cartoon

i created my cartoon in adobe flash by following the tutorial on youtube to create this image i had to use   different layer if i wanted different section to move at different time. for this cartoon i made him blink. i was having trouble uploading this to my blogger so i had to use quick play which shows half of what the cartoon is doing with his eyes. the originally one finish with his eyes open. i created my cartoon by using different shapes like an oval for the face, ears and eyes. i drew the body, noes, mouth and the feet using the brush tool. the neck, arms, legs, eyebrows and hair i made with the line tool. i liked using flash because it was easy to use when you got use to using the software. to make the eyes i would copy closed eyes on a different keyframe then copy open eyes on a different keyframe to create a blinking effect. i didn't like when i wanted to use the line tool it wouldn't let me fill it with colour so i had to colour it in with the brush tool.

FINAL OUTCOME

Overview:
My final outcome was created in flash with a plum, a raspberry, a apple, a banana and a pineapple with grass in the background with a sun and cloud. My idea changed during the development would be where I positioned my fruit. I found out once i put my background in when I tried to move my plum to the other side it would mess with the movement so baiscally it I moved the plum to the otherside when I changed keyframes the body would be on one side and the legs and the arms would be on the other. The advice from my peers and staff would just show me different and better ways of what I was trying to do.The aspects of my outcome that were successful were that I got all my fruits to move in some form of way. The aspects of my outcome that could be improved would be that the online version of my final outcome was the same one as the one on the computer. I would also develope the writing I would have different front and make it look like it was coming out of the raspberry and the banana's mouth so it would look like they are talking.

Critical and Contextual References and Influences:
I researched Jonathan Chong and Ross ching.they gave me the idea to put text in the scene of the lyrics from the song playing in the background. they also influenced me to use music i used all these in my final outcome.

Purpose:
I was asked by Aardan studio a company known for its animations. Aardan have commissioned me to create an animation advertising campaign for a product of my choice but it had to have something todo with food, fashion, music or technology. My outcome did fulfil this pupose it was a cross between musc and food.
Materials and Techniques:
I used a Mac computer, adobe flash and adobe photoshop. I learn how to use adobe flash.creating different keyframe on each layer so you get a different effect each time. i learn how to create the fruit by using the brush and pencil tool and using the fill tool. I experienced some problems when i had to draw a section of the body it wouldn't allow me to fill it with colour because there was gaps so I had to fill open gaps and then it would let me colour it. My final outcome is alittle different from the artisted I researed because mine is a cartoon and there is not. We use the same technique with using the music in the background.

FLASH shape

i created this shape in adobe flash i created this shape by following a tutorial. the shape starts off as a square and the it gradually change into a circle. you do this by creating a square on the first keyframe then on like keyframe 20 i deleted the square and put a circle in its place, i could change the colour of the shape if i wanted to then about half through the first keyframe and the last one side click and click on create shape tween and then you are finished.
i like how it was so easy to use.
next time i would make my one more complicated.

childcare GIF

I have created a GIF on childcare by taking a minium of 9 picture on my camera of me picking up a teddy bear and spinning it around. i finished the same way i started so it would be a continuous GIF.     I created it in photoshop. i like creating a GIF because it was easy to create and i like the final outcome of how it looks. this method makes it look different and its an interesting thing to do with a couple of photos.

stop motion comparison

Hudson - Against The Grain from Dropbear on Vimeo.

Death Cab for Cutie - Little Bribes from Ross Ching on Vimeo.

The artist who created these films are Jonathan Chong and Ross ching.

The artist create a video by either acting out the song with images or writing out the song  lyric with different types of typograhy. the first video does both but mostly acts out the song using  colouring pencils where as for Death cab they don,t use materials They just use lots of types of typography.
In Against the Grain the artist creates different scenes using pencils. It keep me interested and make me want to watch the whole thing to see what the pencils will do next. The colouring pencils make me think of a rainbow.
In Death Cab the artist uses many materials and has created different ways to get the words to spell out to the song in the background. the different typography make it more exciting. I think both animations used all there material effectively and originally. each animation is very different and very interenting. the themes in Against the Grain were the colouring pencils and the bright colours of them.
the themes in Death Cab were the words.
I enjoyed watch both of them i think the artist did a fantastic jobs. Both i had to watch till the end.
I liked them both I dont think they need to be improved.
